CBRE is looking for an experienced
Senior Underwriter to be a team leader and primary client contact for select
clients. The ideal candidate will have experience managing institutional
clients and have in depth knowledge of commercial real estate and capital
markets with a focus on value-add transactions and experience with construction
The Senior Underwriter will report
directly to the Director of Underwriting. Primary responsibility is to
coordinate and execute due diligence services associated with senior commercial
mortgage loans and preferred equity transactions for institutional clients.
Real estate transactions will be primarily bridge and construction loans on
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
The Senior Underwriter will manage and execute
the due diligence process including: compiling DD checklist, reviewing property
related documents including leases, reviewing all third-party reports and
preparing/reviewing cash flow models. Deliverable will vary by client but will
typically include a comprehensive asset summary or investment memo.
The Senior Underwriter will assist in supervisory responsibilities of the
Underwriter and/or Underwriting Analyst in this position. Coordinate and assign
tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project team. Lead project teams
and/or plan and supervise assignments of lower level employees. May have
responsibility for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching,
and motivating a work unit and/or group.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.
Concentration in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate or other related
subject preferred. Minimum five years Underwriting experience but prefers 10+
The Senior Underwriter should possess strong communication
skills and experience with value-add and real estate projects and construction
projects as there is a focus on understanding the business plan for the project
and the propertyâs place in the market. Where diligence varies from the initial
underwriting or investment thesis, the Senior Underwriter will be proactive in
working with the clientâs deal team to highlight variances and resolve issues
Excellent written and verbal
communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to
provide efficient, timely, reliable and professional service to clients.
Ability to effectively present information.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to
solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced
analytical and quantitative skills.
Will be required to travel as needed.
