Oregon Tech is seeking a highly creative professional for the Graphic Design Coordinator position in the Office of Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs (MarCoPa) within the Office of the President. This is a 12-month, full-time position located on the main campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The successful candidate will gain the exciting opportunity of being part of a creative team as its lead graphic designer, and overseeing the day-to-day project management and workflow of MarCoPa’s Klamath Falls department, including employee supervision. The effective implementation of Oregon Tech’s marketing strategies is vital in the expansion and success of the University’s admissions and retention efforts, and its overall reputational capital. A key component of the marketing strategy is advancing the University’s graphic identity. The Graphic Design Coordinator will oversee the development workflow and coordination of Oregon Tech’s graphic identity (related to digital, collateral, visual, and all modalities); work directly with requesters on graphic design and marketing projects; execute internal and external communications; ensure quality and timely deliverables; provide consultation to internal and external constituents; and ensure adherence to university brand guidelines and standards in the departmental and university wide production of marketing materials.
This position will work closely with all university departments and divisions, including Strategic Enrollment Management (e.g., Admissions and Retention in particular); academic departments including degree programs and faculty support; departments within Student Affairs (e.g., Student Life, Housing and other areas); the Office of the President; and other functional areas within the university.
The primary responsibilities of the Graphic Design Coordinator include developing, coordinating, and communicating project direction and expectation levels to unit members; ensuring unit activities align with the strategic direction of MarCoPA and university vision and goals; empowering, coaching, and retaining qualified staff; and implementing changes or redesigns to department procedures and systems related to project management and other areas. The Coordinator is responsible for comprehensive graphic design for the entire university, including designing, editing, producing, and managing publications and projects for specific target audiences; designing and executing layouts and composition for a variety of communications formats; and being the principal photographer for the Klamath Falls campus, as well as coordinating videography.
The Coordinator also monitors the university’s branding and visual image; oversees the update, revision, or creation of visuals related to branding, brand management, and published resources and guidelines; and authorizes exceptions to University style and brand guides. The position’s duties will focus primarily on the Klamath Falls campus but is expected to deliver services to other Oregon Tech sites and locations. At the request of the Office of the President, this position may provide executive photography, videography, and other services during and outside of regular business hours.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (3) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least two (3) years of supervisory experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver’s license.
- Willing and able to travel and work weekends/evenings occasionally.
- Five or more years of experience in graphic design.
- Five or more years of experience in photography and videography including production and editing.
- Proficiency in graphic design software Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Proficiency in standard photo and video equipment, and editing software.
- Experience working in higher education.
